Unit 9 post
I.) The reason that it's important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically. Well,Professionals have a duty to full fill for their patients needs & wants as well as incorporate new approaches of health and healing & having an open mind with various ideologies for patients. A professional must also implement integral health techniques if they fully want to heal a patient as well. The professional themselves must become involved with the transform process,we change ourselves as well if different medicine is being practiced with. The areas that are needed to develop and achieve the goals are a blueprint for providing a holistic and integrated approach to health. The approach of the holistic, evolutionary, intentional, person-centered, and dynamic principles provide an understanding of the mind & body medicine. Spiritual-wise a professional may need to be a well diverse person to have a personal benefit with themselves while in the health field & being diverse in thinking with the mind, body & spirit as it will make them become more confident in themselves as well as being on the same level with their patients. A professional doesn't have to be a bodybuilder but having a good physical shape is more ideal to have especially being in the health field. A professional can give information having the mind knowledge to a patient, but people see visualization first more times than they listen to in life.
II.) I do feel that my spiritually may need to be boosted up to an 8 but as of now My spiritual well-being I'd give it a 7. I'm generally the type of person that I'll consider who's a helper to someone. I'm always giving advice to friends who're going through rough times in their lives. I feel that spiritual well being for myself because I do take the time to reflect and try resolve any issues that may occur, and maintain balance and control of life. I think spiritually personally is not only growing within yourself but growing within your mind as well, so as we mature in age our personal aspects of enhance our spiritual growth grows as well. My physical rating I feel has increased to a 9 now. I've bumped my workout days to 5 days a week now, I've integrated more training days of working out and lifting weights and I still use a variety of workout focus formulas to keep my drive going while working out. My mental state I feel I've improved to a 9 I feel that the use of the subtle mind techniques in combination with physical exercise and the use of the mind and body methods with the use of conscious approach has enhanced my mind to stay more focused.
III.) My physical goal is to make personal goals in the gym or at home for myself by lifting heavier and gaining more strength and size for myself and maybe even increase my endurance of cardio as I've kinda slumped somewhat with cardio. I would say that my psychological goal is to incorporate more subtle mind techniques as I've grown mentally I want to pursue and maintain focus. As Dacher states if we attend to our inner experience , we begin to transform what is ordinary health into a integral health,” as well as purchase new material & information to continue our efforts in integral health (Dacher, 2006, pg 71). My spiritual goal is to continue to grow and learn more about other spiritual techniques & to continue with other practices. For my mental state I would like to continue using mind and meditation techniques such as transfer my mental attitude inward as well as progress with deeper and inner development and healing the mind mental and even physical.
IV.) My growth for my physical is to make personal goals for myself as well as continue to use mediation techniques to enhance my breathing techniques during exercise as well as increase my workout days from 5 days to 6 days a week as well as using the calm abide method to keep my overall attitude calm and learning to enhance my growth. For psychological I'd like to improve and continue to concentrate and train with the mind still & to just sustain having a good mental health. Spiritual wise I can go by using different techniques such as the ways of the Tibetan or even the Navajo and trying to come over resentment and frustration to help with healing the mind.
V.) I feel that I will continue to complete my goals as well as evaluate the situation first off before it begins and also try to establish and continue to set new goals for myself and go by using a variety of different processes with different principals learned and setting more goals for health and wellness.

John, Your blog this week was very good. I enjoyed reading it. Do you plan on implementing any of the exercises we did in class into your daily life? I loved the loving kindness exercise and am planning on doing it at least once a week along with visualization. I have a hard time with visualization so I would love to get better at this technique.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever considered going on a spirit quest? I have read about them and am really considering going on one if I can work it into my schedule. It sounds very intriguing and allow you to connect with yourself through nature.
ReplyDeleteAlso, as far as exercising, try to vary your exercise so you don't get bored. Join a gym or get some DVDs that work different muscle groups and that way you'll get variation plus have a little fun. Also, a good thing to do would be to log your time in and keep track of it that way. It really helps me to continue progressing because I can actually see the progress I'm making.
It's been great being in the class with you, and good luck to you in the future! :0)

ReplyDeleteThat's an amazing post, John. You've clearly benefited from the holistic approach to health this class has provided. Combining body/mind and spirit into a balanced equation we can apply to our daily lives is indeed doable. Kudos to you!

I enjoyed reading your post. I have also made goals to increase my exercises in all three domains, and I hope to acheive those goals. You have mentioned a good point, which is continuing to learn about spiritual, psychological and physical methods. I know that knowlege and information is constantly evolving, so it is important to continue to learn about everything we studied in the course.
ReplyDeleteGood luck in the future!
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading the growth in your process. You recognize that as you grow in yourself that your plan for approaching this must change. So many times we want to do the same things we have always done. In many cases this causes us to stay were we are and never progress. There should be no number scale on our potential as it suggest a perfect state of being. I think as humans we continue to grow until we leave here and start a new adventure. The goal is happiness, compassion, and loving life. Enjoyed your post this term.
